February Update

Welcome to our Camera Club plans for the next month:

1) The next club meeting be on Monday, February 10th.

- The first activity will be a Critique with the theme “Action/Speed/Motion.” At our December meeting, Bob Schultz and Rob Harden gave us a great introduction and information on depicting action, speed and/or motion in our photography, so you will have a good idea about what you should submit. You may submit ONE image on a USB to Rob Harden by 6:45 the night of the meeting. Be sure to get it to Rob early! The meeting will be starting at 7:00, so any pictures not downloaded by that time will not be able to be viewed at this meeting.

- Following the Critique, we will have our own Michael St. Laurent giving us a presentation on “Post- Processing.” Many members have asked for some expertise to present to us on this topic and Michael is really the best of the best in this department. You do not want to miss this Presentation!

2) We have an Outing on February 22nd at Buffalo Pound Lake, “Creative Light Painting & Fireworks.” We will be doing some light painting, fireworks, frozen bubbles if weather assists, possible wildlife photography, night photography and more on the lake. Betty & Lorne Calvert will make their home available for warming up, washroom facilities and a wiener roast for those who would like. You are asked to please let me know if you plan to attend, so we may prepare for the evening. I will ask for hands up at the meeting, just for numbers.

3) A reminder: We really need members to submit images for posting on the club website! Please go over your pictures and choose some digitals for submission (under 10 MB size or 1920 px on the long side – even 2 MB works, and small is good for this). Email to Sheryl Parry at prairieparry@gmail.com

We would like to see everyone have their images on our web page! Thank you to those who have recently submitted images.

4) 1 st, 2nd and 3rd Place Winners of the December Club Competition – please submit your images to Sheryl Parry as well! We want to put our winning pictures on our club website. All other entries will also be accepted for posting on our website! And previous winners/entries into any previous Club Competitions will be happily accepted as well!

5) Just-In-Case Slideshow - If you didn’t do this at the last meeting, please bring a separate USB with up to 25 images to this meeting. Themes are completely Open. Rob Harden will put these images into a file to have on hand, just in case we have a meeting where our Guest may not be able to attend due to something like the weather. Important – please be sure you have put your name on your USB’s, for easier returning at the end of the day.

6) OUR ANNUAL MAIN FUNDRAISER RIB NIGHT AT THE CRUSHED CAN ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 16th. Huge thank you to our members who stepped up and supported your club by purchasing tickets for the fundraiser! It was a big success and you will receive an update on results at the meeting.

7) START PREPARING YOUR PICTURES FOR THE PRPA SPRING COMPETITIONS! The deadlines for entries are April 1 st – TO BE RECEIVED BY THE JUDGING CLUB, which means you may have to enter sooner. Wanda Hudson, our PRPA Rep, will explain these competitions for you at the February meeting and have an information package for you asap. In the meantime, if you wish to do some pre-research, here is the link to PRPA – go to the competitions pages: https://www.prpa.ca/about-prpa

8) IMPORTANT: Our WhatsApp Group Communications List is now a Group Texting List. Texting has proven to be much simpler. If you are not on the list yet and wish to be included in this Group, for sharing exciting photography opportunities, contact Hilda Maier at 306-690-8910.

9) Invite friends to our meetings. If you know someone who isn’t sure about the Camera Club but would like to try it out, or someone who would just like to atten, let them know that they may attend any meeting or Outing for $10 (which then gives them a coupon to receive $10 off their membership, should they decide to join the club.) As of now, new members may join for 1⁄2 year fees!

10) A reminder: For ease of doing business, you may now make payments for any club item through e-transfer. E-Transfer to cameraclubmoosejaw@gmail.com A password is not required.

11) A reminder: Our MJCC Gallery at Carol’s Catering & Café still wants your prints! Consider putting one of your prints up for display or sale, especially if you have not done that yet! If you need your image printed, Rob Harden or Bob Schultz will help you through this as well.
