January Update

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with your families and those you hold dear. Wishing you all a healthy, happy year to come!

Welcome to our Camera Club plans for the next month:

1) The first club meeting of the New Year will be on Monday, January 13th.

- This meeting will start with a Slideshow of “Candid or Posed People.” The themes are wide open, as long as a person or people is/are the central subject of the pictures. You may submit a maximum of FIVE images on a USB to Rob Harden by 6:45 the night of the meeting. Be sure to get them to Rob early! The meeting will be starting at 7:00, so any pictures not downloaded by that time will not be able to be viewed at this meeting.

- Our special Guest this night will be professional photographer Chris Attrell, with a Workshop on “Know Your Camera.” Be sure to bring your camera to this meeting!

2) Just-In-Case Slideshow! Your executive is asking you to bring a separate USB with up to 25 images to this meeting. Themes are completely Open. Rob Harden will put these images into a file to have on hand, just in case we have a meeting where our Guest may not be able to attend due to something like the weather. Important – please be sure you have put your name on your USB’s, for easier returning at the end of the day.

3) VERY IMPORTANT! OUR ANNUAL MAIN FUNDRAISER RIB NIGHT AT THE CRUSHED CAN ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 16th! The tickets are $25 each; the Club makes $12 per ticket, so it is a worthwhile fundraiser. And the ribs (choice between BQ or Greek) are fantastic!! This is what allows us to be able to afford to bring in the great Guest Presenters that we do. Underage family are welcome to attend for the supper until 8:00 p.m. Please support your Club by purchasing at least a couple of tickets! Rachel Petroschuk will have the tickets available at the meeting.

Please go over your pictures and choose some digitals for submission (under 10 MB size) to Sheryl Parry at prairieparry@gmail.com. Your pictures do belong there! Thank you to those who have recently submitted images.

9) A reminder: Our MJCC Gallery at Carol’s Catering & Café wants your pictures! Consider putting one of your prints up for display or sale, especially if you have not done that yet! If you need your image printed, Rob Harden or Bob Schultz will tell you how to do this as well.

10) An early heads-up with the February Outing on February 22nd at Buffalo Pound Lake. We will be doing some light painting, fireworks, night photography and more on the lake at 700 Daniel Drive, Resort Village of North Grove. Betty & Lorne Calvert will make their home available for warming up, washroom facilities and a wiener roast for those who would like. You are asked to please let Betty know if you plan to attend, to prepare for the evening.
