December 11 Meeting

At our December 11th meeting, we will have a Critique of “Monochrome/Black and White”. Monochrome is an image displaying a single colour or different shades of a single color. Black and white, sepia, and cyanotype are all considered to be monochromatic as they're each composed of different shades of the one colour. Each position on an image can record and show a different amount of light, but not a different hue. It includes all forms of black-and-white photography, which produce images containing shades of neutral grey ranging from black to white. Each member may submit ONE image for the Critique. Images are to be put on a USB and handed in to Rob Harden by 6:45 the night of the meeting. If you hand in more than ONE image, Rob will upload only the first image for the Critique. You are encouraged to title your images. It is important to learn to choose titles for our images, as if you enter any PRPA or other competition, you must have a title, even if it is, “Untitled.” A good title can go a long way toward boosting how your image is viewed by the judges. You should rename your image with its title; eg: “Incoming Thunderstorm-Betty Calvert”; or “Untitled-Betty Calvert.”

Our December 11th meeting will also have a Bokeh Workshop led by Rob Harden. Rob will introduce us to a simpler and different way of achieving Bokeh in our images. Bring your camera, tripod and any lens that is at least 100mm or more.

At our December 11th meeting we will be having our Christmas party. You are asked to bring a Pot-Luck Snack/Munchies to share with members. The Club will provide coffee, hot chocolate, plates, napkins and utensils. This is always a great social event and we hope everyone can come and enjoy it!

Club Fundraising

The club will be having a Steak Night at the Crushed Can on Thursday, January 25th, 2024. Their steaks are awesome! We are hoping to have tickets available for members at the December meeting. They will be $25 per ticket. All members are encouraged to purchase tickets for this fundraiser for our club to help ensure we can keep our membership fees affordable next year. Consider Steak Night Tickets for Christmas gift-buying and Stocking Stuffers!

Carol’s Catering Display

Finally, a reminder that Rob Harden is changing out the Camera Club Gallery Display at Carol’s Catering. We would love to see some of our newer members have the opportunity to show your work here! Contact Rob Harden at 4dogs1974@sasktel.net if you wish to have a picture printed in order to be hung at Carol’s. Bring to the December meeting any print you would like to have displayed.
