presentation.
January Club Competition – “Open” Theme
For those who will be spending some holiday time to prepare your print for the January Club
Competition, here are some reminders:
- Submissions are ONE print per member.
- Size is to be anywhere from 8”x10” minimum to 11”x14” maximum.
- Matting is not allowed and photographer’s name must not appear anywhere on the print.
- Prints should be mounted on a solid backing (cardboard or foam core, for example) for display
purposes.
- General rules will follow PRPA Guidelines: “Photographs in all print competitions may be post-
processed using fundamental editing techniques including cropping, dust removal, noise
reduction, sharpening, and adjustments to exposure, colour temperature, clarity and saturation.
HDR is also allowed. Minor elements may be removed. Pictures created using digital methods
that move parts of pictures within a photograph, or are created by adding other pictures or parts
of pictures to a photograph, or by using a digital device other than a camera, may only be
entered in competitions which specifically allow such manipulations.” To clarify.... AI is not
allowed in our competitions.
- Prints should be submitted with a plain paper laid on top to cover it and a 3”x4” piece of white
paper with only the Title of the picture printed on it. We will have papers available if you happen
to forget that.
- Any submissions not within the guidelines will not be entered in the competition, but will be
happily displayed for membership viewing.
- All members will have the opportunity to vote for your choice of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements.
- Please try to have your submissions for the competition handed in between 6:30 and 6:45 that
night.
2. “Just In Case”
With the likelihood of actually experiencing winter at some point this season, there will also be
the possibility of inclement travel weather preventing a Presenter from being able to attend a
meeting as planned. Should that happen, the executive feel that would provide another
opportunity for us to view more of each others’ images. So members are asked to bring 20 of
your favourite images on a USB stick and submit to Rob Harding at the January meeting. Rob will
save these images in a “Just In Case” folder. We will be sure to enjoy these images at some time
this membership year.
For members who do not have the capabilities of putting your images on a flash drive, contact
Rob Harden for help in that. Text: 306-681-5223; Phone: 306-693-3376; or Email:
