Hi All – Your Update for the MJCC February Events!
February 12, 2024 Membership Meeting
Program will consist of our “Landscape” Critique, our Equipment Sales and a short Slideshow.
See the Landscape information below.
Bring any photography equipment you would like to sell! Come and find new equipment and the deals of
a lifetime!
Bring a USB stick with 20 of your images for this and future Slideshows. (See #3. Below.) See you there!
February Critique – “Landscape” Theme
Some reminders about the Critique:
- Landscape images are to be “any scenery which may include some sign of man or man himself.”
- Submissions are ONE digital entry per member.
- General rules will follow PRPA Guidelines: “Photographs ... may be postprocessed using fundamental
editing techniques including cropping, dust removal, noise reduction, sharpening, and adjustments to
exposure, colour temperature, clarity and saturation. HDR is also allowed. Minor elements may be
removed. Pictures created using digital methods that move parts of pictures within a photograph, or
are created by adding other pictures or parts of pictures to a photograph, or by using a digital device
other than a camera, may only be entered in competitions which specifically allow such manipulations.”
To clarify.... AI is not allowed in our competitions.
- Members should submit their entry on a USB stick to Rob Harden prior to 6:45 the night of the meeting.
Please attach your name in some way to your USB stick prior to handing in to Rob.
- There will be three judges for the Critique, who will make comments about each image. If time permits,
we might be able to have some group discussion as well.
Saturday, February 24, 2024 Outing – “Posing & Light Demonstration” 11:00 a.m. - by Mark Duffy
- Members are to meet at McMaster’s Studio at 70 Stadacona Street West by 11:00 a.m for a great
learning experience on lighting and posing for great portrait pictures. Mark is a local renowned
photographer, who will have much to pass on to us. You won’t want to miss this Outing!
“Just In Case”
Last month, members were asked to bring 20 of your favourite images on a USB stick to the January
meeting. The plan was for Rob Harden to save these images in a “Just In Case” folder, to share at some
time this membership year. As it turned out, our first “Just In Case” viewing happened at our January 8th
meeting when our presenter was unable to get here. We hope you enjoyed the Slideshow!
Our Workshop Presenter for our February meeting has already informed us that she is unable to do that
workshop. In reviewing the program for that night, the Executive has decided there is not time to book
another complete program. So, that meeting we will have our Critique first (see # 2. above); and then
will have a break so members can review the equipment that is for sale; followed by a shorter Slideshow.
So, we ask you to once again bring up to 20 images to submit to Rob for a “Just In Case” folder. For
members who do not have the capabilities of putting your images on a flash drive, contact Rob Harden
for help in that. Text: 306-681-5223; Phone: 306-693-3376; or Email: 4dogs1974@sasktel.net
Help, Please!
Wanda Hudson is in need of a few medium sized aquariums for the Workshop she will be leading in the
May 13th meeting. If you have an aquarium not presently being used that you would be willing to bring to
that meeting, please contact Wanda at 306-631-1440. Thanks!!

Club Display at Carol’s Catering
Rob Harden is still looking for more prints for members to have displayed at Carol’s. Members are
encouraged to bring a print to the next meeting for Rob to add to the display. If you are unsure about it,
check it out and go to Carol’s for a meal some time. The food is awesome and reasonably priced – a good
opportunity to enjoy a great meal and support Carol’s for their support for our club!
It’s Not Too Late to Join the Club!
Do you know of anyone who you think might enjoy the Camera Club? Our fees are pro-rated. So, anyone
registering in February would only pay $25 for the rest of the season.
Thanks Everyone! Hope you all have a great month! See you soon...
