October Meeting - October 16

Hope you are enjoying getting out to take some pictures in this nice fall weather!

Just a couple notes for the upcoming month for the Camera Club:

1.       For those who participated in the Treasure Hunt, remember to bring your images on a USB stick to give to Rob Harden at the October 16th meeting. Treasure Hunt pictures will be viewed by the club members at the November 13th meeting.

2.       It is time to change out the Camera Club Gallery Display at Carol’s Catering. You are encouraged to have one of your prints displayed in the Gallery. We want to see all members having the opportunity to show your work here! If you have a print you would like to have in the display, bring it to Rob Harden at the October 16th meeting. Prints may be marked for sale, or may be for display only. If you have an image that requires printing, mounting and/or framing, bring the image on a USB stick to give to Rob at the October 16th meeting. Rob and Bob Schultz both prepare prints for club members, and the costs are more than reasonable. Consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Rob will be explaining the options and costs at the meeting.

3.       A reminder that the Prairie Region of Photographic Arts (PRPA) Fall Competitions deadlines are coming up! Attached is the information sheet our PRPA Rep, Hilda Maier, has prepared for you. Your deadlines are as early as October 23rd, so read the information carefully and consider submitting some pictures for the competitions!

4.       The October 16th meeting will start with a Critique on “Leading Lines.” Please bring ONE image depicting Leading Lines on a USB to hand in to Rob Harden by 6:45 the night of the meeting. Our Critiques are planned as a learning experience for us all. We will view each others’ images and three “Judges” will make comments on them, such as on why the image did well in showing “leading lines” or suggestions on how the image could be improved. All Our club “judges” have each taken a one-day judging course through the Canadian Association of Photographic Arts (CAPA). You are encouraged to submit an image for this Critique!

5.       Stan Hingston will be our guest presenter at the October 16th meeting. Stan will be sharing information on Creative Cropping, and he will also give us more information on PRPA. As an experienced Judge, Stan has also graciously agreed to be one of our judges for the Critique. You won’t want to miss this meeting. Be sure to bring your “Leading Lines” image for the Critique.

See you at the meeting on October 16th!
